European approach to slope stability problems in open-pit mines
Surface geological mapping should be supplemented by determination of optical tests of homogeneous structural zones depth wise; rock stability and permissible angle of slope are determined by: rock type, strength of rock, stratification, foliation, mechanical fragmentation, chemical defects, positional relation between slope and structure, time factors, water in joints and vibrations. (See also - discussion p 207-16)
