Width of cracks in concrete at surface of reinforcing steel evaluated by means of tensile bond specimens
Tensile bond specimens simulating segment of tensile portion of reinforced beam between two successive tensile cracks were tested to gain information; crack width was estimated by comparing extension of embedded bar with extension of concrete adjacent to bar; crack width at surface of deformed bar was found to be significantly less than width of crack measured at exterior surface of concrete.
