Cost comparison of erecting fireproof 4-story dormitory of 27,500 sq ft floor area at Taylor University, Upland, Ind, by following methods: lift slab, conventional poured-in-place concrete, and structural steel with bar joists; cost of lift slab construction was $0.08 psf lower than structural steel frame and $0.90 psf lower than poured-in-place concrete; savings inherent in lift slab are shown in comparative cost study of 10-story building with 100,000 sq ft floor area; limitations.
