Problem of calculating stability of natural clay slopes; discussion is concentrated on which values of shear strength of clay should be used in stability analysis; based on determination of undrained shear strength of clay, stability can be calculated by ψ = O analysis; if shear strength of clay is known in terms of effective stresses, c'ψ' analysis may be used; results with both methods of analysis.
