Approximate similarity of hydraulic models, obtained by means of model distortion
Effects of inertia, gravity and friction forces contribute to erroneous results of tests performed on hydraulic models made exactly to scale; formulas based on Froude's and Reynolds' theorems are derived to compensate for these effects by introducing scale distortion factor in calculating model dimensions; results are applied to numerical examples of pipe and channel flows.
