Experiments were carried out in three tall residential buildings through two complete heating periods and it was found that buildings were often overheated; heat demand was measured by taking flow and return temperature and flow quantity readings; influence of wind and solar radiation and effect of height were considered; results showed among other things that cross ventilation did not affect uniform heating of building when two boundaries of resistance were present and that there was no evidence of directly proportional increase in heat demand in terms of height of building; there was no appreciable difference in heating efficiency between one- and two-pipe systems.
