Statistical study of flood flows of two Brazilian rivers
Region of southern Brazilian highlands and two rivers located in this area are described and procedures for statistical treatment of flood flows are reviewed; first step is determination of relationship between average yearly flood and drainage area, and in second step log-normal or type-III distribution is fitted to yearly floods of as many stations as possible; it is shown how floods of any desired probability of occurrence at any site may be calculated from relationships deduced and estimates derived.
