Denver Fire Dept received permission to use 13-story hotel of fire-resistant construction for training purposes before its demolition; both personnel and equipment were tested and observations incorporated in changes, which are outlined; in addition to training sessions, program was conducted by both fire and building departments; two fires were staged to determine effect of sprinklers and stability of three types of ducts; sprinkler system provided means of escape from corridor and to enclosed stairway by clearing and cooling atmosphere in corridor and contained fire to room of origin.
