Spatially designed home gets spatially designed lighting
Spatial design is one in which sense of free space prevails; walls and ceilings are de-emphasized and large areas are kept free of doors, archways, columns, etc; paper shows lighting problems inherent in spatially conceived house, and how they can be resolved; main core of house is living-dining-relaxing-entertaining-eating area in open space with high ceilings and no walls, where stone and wood of exterior dominate decor; focal point is large three-sided stone fireplace; lighting was designed by cubic foot rather than by fixture, and all light sources were hidden except for two units; other lighting details and floodlighting of exterior of house.
