Nonstationary stochastic model of earthquake motions
Results of study of eight strong-motion accelerograms are summarized; these indicated that adequate mathematical descriptions of earthquake motions require nonstationary random processes; nonstationary gaussian filtered shot noise process is suggested for this purpose; validity of proposed model is examined in light of certain statistics obtained from available records.
