Temperature control for cement concrete gravity dams
Paper discusses nature of temperature control in dams limited in height by 400 to 500 ft; calculations are performed with concrete mixes containing kankar limes; placement schedule is set at 1.0 ft height of dam/day with fog curing of concrete; it was found that good limestone is best coarse aggregate; shallower lifts should be used for small dams of height less than 100 ft; coefficient of linear expansion and modulus of elasticity should be determined carefully; one foot lifts are best for temperature control.
