Problem of analyzing arch dams with large thickness to radius of curvature ratio; different approach of physical analog technique from that developed by N.M.Newmark, W.C.Schnobrich, K.P.Chuang and A. S.Veletsos which accounts for shear deformability as well as membrane and bending effects; another approach for solution of shells by using finite element technique is presented.
