Deformations of dam foundations
It is shown that Vogt deformation coefficient is applied improperly in U S Bureau of Reclamation trial load method of arch dam analysis; exact formula for displacement Delta y gives results larger by factor b/2a where b is length of equivalent rectangle of developed foundation, and a is its width; corrected formulas are developed for calculating foundation displacements, real thickness of dam at various levels and real stresses acting on foundations being taken into account.
