Untersuchung des Betons von Uferschutzbauten auf Helgoland
Testing concrete of bank protection structures on Helgoland; sample cores from seven concrete blocks dating from years 1916 and 1938 which lie as breakwaters before west and south mole of Helgoland were tested; properties and quality of binding cement, particle composition of aggregates and crude and pure densities were determined; by filling capillary pore space with carbon tetrachloride, basic values were obtained for original water-cement ratio; to evaluate effect of seawater attack, concrete was tested chemically, microscopically and by X-rays at various intervals from surface.
