Shrinkage and creep in prestressed concrete
Loss of prestress resulting from creep and shrinkage in concrete was investigated for concrete specimens made with Type I and III portland cement; variables in study were -- relative humidity at which concrete was maintained while under observation, age of concrete at time it was prestressed, ratio of prestress to strength, and mass ratio factor defined as ratio of cross-section area of concrete specimen to its surface area per unit length; 49 sets of specimens were fabricated and tested; length changes with time were observed at intervals up to age of 500 days.
