Review of civil engineering schools in United States; first engineering "school" of modern times was established in Prague by C.J.Willenberg about 1716; in 1813 first course in civil engineering was included at West Point; Rensselaer Technical school was founded in Troy in 1824; between 1825 and 1850 five additional colleges offered courses in civil engineering, namely, St. John's College (Maryland), 1826; University of City of New York, 1834; Virginia Military Institute, 1839; and Union College (New York), 1845.
