Some load tests on drilled cast-in-place concrete caissons
Number of load tests carried out on drilled cast-in-place concrete caissons are described, along with some pertinent geotechnical properties of glacial till overburden and shale bedrock; both till and shale deteriorated rapidly under combined effects of exposure by excavation and action of groundwater seepage; unusual features of project were that straight shaft caissons were used in such conditions, and that they were designed for side shear only.
