Calculation of oscillations of multi-storied buildings with aid of equivalent continuous structures; three types of structures are considered, namely those with predominant bending deformations (window- and door-less high walls), those with prevalent shear deformations (frames), and those with bending as well as shear deformations (high walls with door and window openings, frames filled with masonry); based on these models, formulas are derived for calculating natural vibrations which are useful in calculation of tall buildings for earthquakes, wind gusts, pressure waves, and other dynamic horizontal loadings.
