Building sealants
Modern high rise buildings and large panel construction expose large surfaces to weathering and thermal joint movement; traditional sealants, such as linseed oil putty, generally fail to counter these effects, and it is necessary to incorporate elastomers (hydrocarbon rubbers, polysulfides, polyurethanes, polybutenes, silicones, and acrylics) into formulations; development testing, properties, methods of application, and actual performance of elastomers in building joints are reviewed. (n 3 Mar 1968 p 12-13, 15-16, n 4 Apr 1968 p 46-8, 50, 53, 55, n 5 May 1968 p 65-6, 69)
