New Code of Practice C.P. 117 Part 2 -- Beams for Bridges, departs radically from earlier specifications for composite steel-concrete construction in recommendations that it makes for design of shear connectors against fatigue; allowable loads now specified are based on extensive recent research at Building Research Station, at Imperial College, and in United States; review of this research with emphasis on tests at Building Research Station; derivation of new recommendations is discussed.
