What do we know about natural purification
It is possible to predict effect of stabilization of oxidizable substances on DO content of stream; time of flow can be calculated on basis of displacement of occupied channel volume but calculations should be checked by observing time of passage with fluorescent dye; effect of sludge deposits, biological extraction and accumulation, and oxidation of nitrogenous substances on DO balance in stream can be evaluated and examples of such evaluations are presented.
