Seepage of groundwater in heterogeneous soil on sloping bedrock
Problem of groundwater seepage down sloping bedrock is discussed for case of soil exhibiting heterogeneity in vertical direction; flow equation, in hydraulic theory, is generalized Riccati's equation whose solution is obtained by standard method; effect of heterogeneity is investigated by comparing results of homogeneous case; it is shown that influence of heterogeneity is twofold -- first, it depresses free surface of homogeneous case at each point, and second, it reverses concavity of free surface.
