Low-flow criteria for stream standards
Virginia's 7-day, 10-yr low flow criterion for determining stream's capacity for waste assimilation is evaluated; study consisted of selection of gaging stations and period of record to be investigated, obtaining low-flow summaries and daily discharge data, preparation of frequency curves, preparation of duration curves by digital computer from daily discharge data, and evaluation of 7-day, 10-yr standard based on percent of time that resulting design flow was equaled or exceeded during period studied.
