Flow characteristics of butterfly and spherical valves
Discharge coefficients of butterfly and spherical valves are given; data were obtained from tests of 10-in. diam models; four lenticular butterfly valve disks were tested; one of them had disk offset in relation to shaft; four spherical valve rotors were tested; data can be used to predict flow and torque for given set of conditions as illustrated in numerical examples; in testing spherical valve models, hydrodynamic force on valve also was measured; data can be used to size trunnions of valves.
