Two-dimensional problem of cylindrical tunnel embedded in elastic medium is considered; simplifying assumptions are made regarding relation between vertical and horizontal stresses in undisturbed rock; for disturbances caused by tunnel, assumption of total transmission or disappearance of tangential loads is introduced as boundary condition between tunnel lining and rock; thin-wall ring is calculated using simplified second-order theory; acting forces in cross section are represented as functions of two parameters expressing, respectively, rigidity relation between tunnel and rock, and influence of normal force; results are compared with those of other authors.
