New continuous method of forming skelp for straight seam welded tubes
Method described in which central region of skelp is formed in horizontal rolls and peripheral regions in undriven vertical rolls, enables entire range of tubes to be produced in same rolls in first six stands of forming mill; this reduced consumption of rolls and time wasted on changing rolls; surface finish on tubes and their appearance as commercial product are also improved.
