Investigation of effective concrete slab width for composite construction
Experimental investigation conducted by Dept of Civil Engineering at Vanderbilt University for determining effective width of concrete slab acting compositely with series of three rolled steel beams; test program consisted of three composite concrete slab and steel beam structures; each test structure consisted of 2-in. thick concrete slab resting on three 4I7.7 beams uniformly spaced and simply supported; slab was anchored to I-beams by 1/2 in. diam stud shear connectors; comparison of test results with specified values of Am Inst of Steel Construction analysis.
