Causes of ejections and of lancing conditions in basic oxygen furnace; basic cause of ejections from converter is higher level of bath caused by uneven oxidation of carbon during melting and foaming of slag; ejections can be reduced and other performance factors of converter improved by improving conditions under which oxygen is supplied and by combined use of multi-nozzle lances at beginning of campaign (through lining) and use of single nozzle lances at end.
