Impact toughness of stainless chromium-manganese and chromium-manganese-nickel steels
In view of unsatisfactory notch impact characteristics of ferritic steels OKh17T and Kh25T, particularly for welding applications, investigation was carried out into notch toughness of steels containing 18 to 25% Cr and 2 to 8% Mn, with and without addition of 2% Ni, after quenching from elevated temperatures; temperature dependence of impact properties is affected by ratio of α to γ-phase, but this effect is smallest in 18Cr-8Mn-2Ni steel. (see also English translation in Stal in English n 4 Apr 1968 p 346-8)
