Determination of shear strength behavior of sliding planes caused by geological features
Three natural slides which took place along geologically predetermined sliding planes are investigated by field observations and laboratory tests; these cases belong to three essentially different types of sliding plane, namely -- sliding planes in overconsolidated clay, unfilled joints in clay shale parallel to stratification, filled sliding zone given by 0.3 to 1.0 m thick layer of decomposed shale; for these cases, shear strength behavior was investigated not only in conventional way up to point of maximum shear strength, but also for deformation beyond it.
