Comparison of field vane and laboratory shear strengths of soft cohesive soils
In-situ shear strength of two different soft cohesive deposits was determined with field vane; one is soft slightly organic cohesive lake deposit in northern Greece; second one is organic clay and peat occurring on North Sea coast in Germany; in this deposit long plant fibers, mostly with horizontal orientation, are present; results of field tests were verified in laboratory by investigations with rotation viscosimeter, triaxial cell and fall-cone.
