One of more difficult traffic centers of Washington, D. C., is Scott Circle; situation is complicated because it is intersection of six streets (three directions), main traffic being north and south in Sixteenth Street; there is considerable rotary as well as through movement, but signal lights have fairly well succeeded in solving difficulties; essential features of plan are division of circular street with inner zone for through north and south traffic and outer zone for rotary traffic: and treatment of both diagonal avenues simultaneously as cross streets.
