The expansion of Portland cement mortar bars during disintegration in sulphate solutions
Comparison between contraction and expansion of portland cement mortar bars when alternately dried and wetted (1) in water and (2) in sulphate solutions; method of measuring progress of action of sulphate solutions on cement mortars by determining expansion of test pieces; this method is compared with one of following sulphate action by determining at intervals the loss in tensile strength of mortar briquets; curves are given which show effect of various factors such as time of curing, volume of disintegrating solution, richness of mortar, concentration of solution and temperature on expansion of Portland-cement mortar bars in solutions of sodium and magnesium sulphate.
