Mechanical properties of compacted soils
Study to describe response of highway subgrade materials by fundamental strength properties which can be utilized to evaluate changes in strength and deformation characteristics of soils produced by type and amount of compaction energy applied; four soils representative of natural soils used for highway subgrades were investigated; experiments were performed to investigate application of linear viscoelastic theory and mechanistic models to unsaturated soils; study utilized electrical-mechanical analogy and concept of complex elastic modulus to define mechanical properties of compacted soils.
