Strengthening fill slope by thermal treatment
Procedure of thermal treatment to strengthen soil around borehole by burning oil for long time to improve stability of fill slope; field experiment was carried out to develop burning device and to determine effective range of strengthening soil by burning; on fill slope of embankment of cohesive soil, 45 burning boreholes of L type were excavated at intervals of 1.5 m over length of 90 m; combustion lasted 10 days, keeping temperature between 900 and 1000 C; excavating method and burning device are described.
