Transatlantic container terminal, which covers 13 1/2 acres and provides 1330 ft quay, can accept vessels of over 20,000 tons dw in minimum of 33 ft of water; roll-on roll-off construction on new quay includes provision of double-deck link span to connect stern or bow loading ships with approach area; sheet pile retaining wall is held in position by two sets of tie rods connecting it to sheet pile anchor wall 80 ft beind it; every standard fender unit has horizontal beam 8 ft 6 in. long fabricated from various substantial plates at plus 2.0 ft and plus 11.0 ft Ordnance Datum.
