Tests conducted on 99-ft steel and cement tower, internationally acclaimed work of art built more than 40 yr ago in Los Angeles district of Watts, Calif; structure is one of 7 similar towers, and load testing was performed in 1959 to determine whether towers met local building codes and were unhazardous to adjacent dwellings; test specimen, load conditions, instrumentation, test procedure and results are described.
