Brittle fracture of carbon steels by impact stressing
6 steels with 0.02-0.65% C were compared in static tensile tests, uniaxial impact tensile tests, and multiaxial notch impact bending tests; testing temperature, rate of deformation, and structural condition of steels were varied; it is shown that Arrhenius equation can be applied to dependence of transition temperature on deformation rate; equation for changes in transition temperature was derived.
