Laboratory investigation to examine abilities of certain additives, indicated to have potential in earlier study, to waterproof several soils ranging from silt to plastic, heavy clay, and obtain preliminary evaluations of waterproofing effectiveness and potential of number of previously untested formulations; extended investigation involved unmodified and chemically modified kerosene-cutback asphalt (MC-O), silicone salt, aniline-furfural, fatty quaternary salt, and commercial road oil.
