Moisture and energy conditions within sloping soil mass during drainage
To explain source of nonstorm streamflow in deep-soiled areas of southern Appalachians, in clining concrete trough was constructed on 40% slope; structure was packed with natural sandy-loam soil and after thorough soaking was covered with plastic to prevent evaporation; outflow was measured at base, and soil moisture tension and content were recorded for 145 days; expressions for outflow during 145 day period.
