Determination of load transfer in 14BP89 and 14BP117 end-bearing steel H-piles, driven 40 ft through sand and gravel by means of strain gages located along length of piles; theoretical calculation of load transfer is presented and is in agreement with observed results; mechanism of pile failure, and significance of load transfer in failure mechanism.
