Transmission-line piers built under water without cofferdams
Illustrated description of substructure for transmission lines crossing San Francisco Bay; each pier has four legs, each supported by long precast concrete batter piles 18×18 in. in cross section, and from 40 to 108 ft in length; water is 50 to 60 ft deep; 1000 ton barge was used to support batching plant, cement silo, mixer, derrick and crane for pouring.
