Building without foundations on moving ground
Design for building to cope with moving ground over coal fields; 5-in. concrete ground slab is used, with enough steel fabric in it to keep it from separating, but steel has no part in resisting bending or cantilevering; concrete is poured in controlled areas, slab edges being painted with bitumen, so that slab will 'pancake' to follow vertical movement of ground.
