This bridge, with main span of 1113 ft. 9 in., is longest span bridge in South America and longest eyebar suspension span in world; it is first application of new form of suspension stiffening construction and first structure in world to utilize recently developed structural material, high-tension, heat-treated steel; another novel feature is use of rocker towers, designed to rock at base, built by American Bridge Co.
