Flexible roads are cheaper, can be laid rapidly and opened immediately, and reliable method of rapid analysis is available so that results can be obtained in 1 hr and any errors in composition corrected immediately; high degree of mix control is possible; laying can proceed under all reasonable weather conditions; defective sections can be readily repaired; there are no joints to impair riding quality, and high degree of skid resistance can be attained on laying; Roman, Telford and macadam methods of road construction are compared.
