Recent research into construction of concrete pavements
Comprehensive investigations into effect on evenness of surface produced and compaction obtained of various methods of constructing concrete roads; different types of hopper spreading-machine and methods of operating them, vibration characteristics, shape and rigidity of support of vibrating beam, design and position of oscillating screed, workability of concrete and inclusion of entrained air, concreting on gradient, and single-course and 2-course compaction, are examined; recommendations are made for design of hopper spreading-machines and method of operating them, and for design of vibrating beam and oscillating screed of compacting machine.
