Experiments on use of heavy concrete for radiation shields were made using magnetite, hematite, paigeite, etc which are used as aggregates in Tohoku area of Japan; results of γ-ray penetration tests were conducted to determine segregation and γ-ray shielding characteristics of heavy concrete mixed with such aggregates.
