Problem of rectangular plate under partial edge compression is considered for plate with clamped opposite edge; distribution of tensile stresses concomitant with compressive stresses is investigated photoelastically, and maxima tensile stresses are determined; results are applicable to calculation of reinforcement of concrete plates.
