Experimental studies on cooling water intake system for atomic power plant at Tokai, Japan
Series of investigations was prepared in order to solve various coastal engineering problems and to give data in relation to practical design and construction procedures of cooling water intake system for atomic power plant; hydraulic analysis was made of functional characteristics of intake and outlet structures; cooling water is taken from Pacific Ocean; study was made of suspended sediment concentration, surface vortex effect, uplift forces against velocity cap due to waves, protection of riser part of intake structure, hydraulic features of outlet conduits, scouring or blocking of outlet mouth.
