Planned scheme on Waitaki River will provide 540,000 kw; earth dam will be 360 ft high with 2000 ft crest length; 16 million cu yd of fill material will be used; river diversion by two 25 by 40 ft diversion tunnels and cofferdam; special hinged collapsible frame form for concreting of tunnels; direct intake for penstocks from impounded river; 500 ft long structural steel building with precast concrete cladding is planned for powerhouse.
